Key Responsibilities
News Gathering & Reporting: Track local news as it happens, stepping in with sharp live reporting and in-depth investigative research for radio, television, and digital platforms.
Compelling Content Production: Write, script, and produce news pieces that grab attention, inform, and are ready to share, always considering the diverse needs of the audience.
Cross-Desk Collaboration: Work directly with specialized editorial groups and digital teams to imagine and deliver multimedia-first storytelling projects.
Operational Adaptability: Handle the fast-moving nature of a newsroom, taking on reporting assignments on weekends, public holidays, and outside regular hours.
Audience Engagement: Deliver news with a strong, clear voice and keep a professional, confident on-camera presence during live broadcasts and field reports.
Experience & Qualifications
Educational Background: Hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution, ideally in Journalism, Mass Communication, Political Science, Economics, or Arts & Social Sciences.
Editorial Acumen: Bring sharp instincts for news, backed by deep, current knowledge of Singapore’s local scene and global affairs.
Linguistic Mastery: Command excellent written and spoken English. Being fluent in another regional language is a definite advantage.
Stress Tolerance: Show you can make independent editorial decisions, pay close attention to detail, and keep calm and accurate even when deadlines are tight.
Technical Skills Required
Know your way around professional broadcast presentation, using teleprompters, and handling field microphones.
Experience with modern digital newsroom systems (like ENPS, Avid iNEWS, or dalet).
Know how to optimize digital content, format web text, and publish across platforms.
Bring strong multimedia analysis skills, fact-checking abilities, and experience with open-source intelligence research.
