This team blends engineering and marketing technology (MarTech), creating backend Java services, custom integrations, and data pipelines that power campaign execution, personalization, and customer data activation.

๐ Key Responsibilities
As Senior Engineer, you’ll work as the technical expert within the product team, handling these main duties:
Solutions Design and Software Development
Integration Architecture: Design scalable campaign activation patterns and integrations between Java (or other object-oriented services like Apex, C#) and SFMC.
Backend Development: Build APIs and object-oriented services both independently and with the team, supporting complex API contracts and data transfers with cloud services (AWS).
System Optimization: Continuously improve system stability, runtime performance, and maintainability for Java services and SFMC platforms.
DevOps, Standards, and Vendor Selection
CI/CD Pipeline: Boost the use of CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment and build processes, and measure software progress with data-driven metrics.
Subsystem Support: Join the team support rotation and provide expert engineering knowledge for critical focus subsystems.
Vendor Management: Set criteria to choose the right technology vendors and join proof of concept (POC) testing with vendors.
Coaching and Talent Building
Engineer Grooming: Train and coach junior developers and associate engineers on foundational engineering skills, domain expertise, and system tools.
Recruitment Panel: Promote Thrivent's brand in the tech community, help define interview structure, and participate in interview panels to hire the right talent.

Education and Basic Qualifications
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
Engineering Tenure: At least 7 years of solid experience in engineering environments, where you’ve turned abstract concepts into detailed software plans.
Core Technical Skills
SDLC & Version Control: Strong grasp of industry standard Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices and version/revision control procedures.
Debugging & Database: Skill in debugging complex log files and source code, plus expert knowledge in querying databases for complex data lookup/updates.
Code Reviews: Review your teammates’ code and develop engineering practices/templates.
Preferred Asset: Previous experience in the Financial Services industry gives you an extra edge.
