Job Summary


As a Portfolio Accountant, you’ll handle the financial monitoring and reporting for the firm’s real estate assets. 


You’ll review reports from third-party property managers, run audits, and help with the quarterly financial close. 


This role plays a key part in maintaining the firm’s financial health, from investment acquisitions all the way to preparing debt covenants.



Key Responsibilities


Financial Monitoring: Review and monitor monthly financial reports from property managers for assigned real estate assets.


Auditing: Complete periodic desktop audits and share results with Asset Managers.


Financial Closing: Assist in preparing financial statements and schedules for quarterly and annual financial close.


Reporting: Prepare quarterly debt covenants and investor reports.


External Coordination: Work with external audit and tax teams to deliver their required documents.


Fund Management: Review monthly fund-level bank reconciliations and prepare wire requests.


Acquisition Support: Prepare entries for investment acquisitions and dispositions (sales).


Forecasting: Calculate monthly management fees and create future forecasts.



Experience & Qualifications


Education: Preference given to candidates with an undergraduate degree in accounting.


Professional Experience: 2 to 3 years of accounting experience are a must.


Specialized Knowledge: Candidates with public accounting or real estate accounting experience are preferred.


CPA Status: Progress toward a CPA is an added benefit.



Skills


  • Excel Mastery: Full command of Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Software Familiarity: Knowledge of Yardi software is a plus.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to check the accuracy of complex financial returns.
  • Communication: Strong skills for maintaining good communication with asset managers and external teams.



Salary & Location


Salary: $90,000 to $110,000 per year (bonus included).
