Company Overview

Dyson is a global research and technology company that continuously disrupts markets with innovative engineering. Dyson’s Connected Products ecosystem is experiencing massive vertical scale, managing millions of smart, internet-connected machines globally.

Operating under a "You build it, you run it" infrastructure ethos, Dyson’s global cloud squads leverage advanced IoT grids, massive Machine Data Lakes, and Machine Learning pipelines within Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deliver seamless, secure, and consumer-grade smart home experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Microservices Architecture: Design, develop, test, and deploy resilient microservices and API layers that manage the "Out of the Box" pairing and connectivity experience between Dyson machines and the Dyson Link app application ecosystem.

Serverless & Container Infrastructure: Code and deploy highly scalable backend applications running within Docker/Kubernetes containers or as asynchronous serverless functions (AWS Lambda) based on system demands.

End-to-End Ownership: Take strict ownership of backend product features from initial conceptual architecture to production delivery, ensuring software meets elite global security and performance standards.

Production Operations & Observability: Monitor, measure, and proactively troubleshoot cloud ecosystem performance. Conduct deep-dive root cause analyses on complex production traffic issues.

Collaborative Engineering Practices: Participate actively in extreme programming (XP) mechanics, including structured pair programming and team-based mobbing sessions, to share architectural context and maintain high-quality codebases.

Experience & Qualifications

3-6 years of experience working as a backend software engineer, cloud developer, or systems integration specialist within a large-scale product ecosystem.

Solid experience working under full-lifecycle Agile methodologies, with an active commitment to continuous integration, testing automation, and deployment stability.

Proven ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, possessing strong communication skills to align with engineering hubs across the UK, Singapore, and China.

Exceptional problem-solving skills with a strong engineering mindset that thrives on learning new backend tools during dedicated Personal Innovation blocks.

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent technical field of study is highly preferred.

Technical Skills Required

Core Languages: Advanced backend coding capability using Node.js (JavaScript/TypeScript), C# (.NET Core), or similar object-oriented frameworks.

Cloud Ecosystem: Deep operational exposure to Amazon Web Services (AWS), specifically serverless architectures, event-driven processing, and containerization.

Data & Networking: Familiarity with RESTful APIs, asynchronous message brokering, secure hardware-to-cloud pairing protocols, and fundamental IoT communication patterns.
